Food just got “Chic” with the 3rd edition of the “Charming Italian Chef” restaurant guide

On Monday evening I was invited to the launch of the Chic 2012 restaurant guide. Chic? I confess. I’d never heard of it so it was with great intrigue that I attended the event. There was one small hitch in the launch. The guide itself hadn’t been printed in time so as I write I am awaiting my copy in the post but in the meantime I decided to find out a little bit more about these charming chefs and not least their cooking capabilities at Monday’s aperitivo.

The launch party was held at Milan’s Convivium Design in via Dante tapping into  the excitement of Milan Design Week and merging chefs with the avantegarde kitchen creations on display. Raffaele Geminiani, director of Chic, presented the new guide and his ambition for Chic which today unites over 70 chefs and restaurants.

If today Chic is still a relatively small association the ambition is anything but and they aim to grow through a range of initiatives and events organised for the coming year. High on the agenda are partnerships with leading names such as;

Villeroy & Boch – Broggi – De Cecco – Marrone – Consorzio di Tutela Olio Dop Riviera Ligure – Acqua Valverde – Agostinetto – Kettmeir – Consorzio Tutela Vini Montello e Colli Asolani – Lamole di Lamole – Dab – Galbani – Torrefazione Caffè Silvia – Gourmet Services – Risolì – Koppert Cress – Hp

Whilst I can’t yet comment on the guide itself I can confirm that the chefs prepared a tasty array of finger food and nibbles to showcase their individual skills and give a taste of what to expect in Chic. Their individual skills and experiences are the foundation of Chic and what “Charming Italian Chefs” stand for and they certainly turned up the charm on monday night! Look out for the new 2012 edition of Chic restaurant guide and for further information visit the website. When my guide arrives I’ll let you know what I think!
